Vision 2020 Program

As part of a community that is actively engaged in local and global wellness, Rockdale Academy has a unique opportunity to weave personal health and sustainability into instruction and learning for students. The new Global Conservation program at Rockdale Academy helps students learn how to transform their neighborhood and the world through field studies, service-learning projects and access to cutting-edge technology.

What Does This Mean for Students?

Introduced for the 2017-18 school year for students in grades PreK-6, Rockdale students will develop into globally-minded advocates and leaders with the confidence, grit and skills to set out on the career pathways of their choice.

Rockdale Academy seeks to educate the whole child by meeting academic, mental, physical and emotional needs. Our students and families know that they are valued, as we go that extra mile to care for our school community in Avondale.

Rockdale Academy students will benefit from:

  • Access to field studies and experts from the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital
  • Partnerships with Hughes STEM High School students to solve challenges and explore career options
  • Project- and service-based learning opportunities include maintaining Northern-Larona Park and annual trips to conservation sites
  • Programs that promote positive life choices through healthy eating and exercise
  • Working at a local urban farm with gardens and, eventually, bees and livestock
  • All-day preschool and kindergarten classes
  • A full-time resource coordinator who secures community partners with a wealth of mental, cognitive and character supports to help students succeed
  • Deep partnerships with Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Johnson & Johnson, Messer Construction and more
  • After-school and extracurricular programs such as tumbling, Girls with Pearls, Defeat the Streets and the Green Team
