How We Teach

Rockdale Academy is a PreK-5 team-based school. Grades PreK-K are self-contained and grades 1-5 are departmentalized. The Vision of Rockdale Academy is to create a warm and welcoming place where every student feels safe and valued. 

Teachers use:

• Character Strong (SEL)
• Ohio Learning Standards
• District pacing and planning/prep Assistance Guides
• Extended response questions, including Ohio State Test preparation questions
• Tailored instruction to reach all students
• Data analysis to improve instruction and resource allocation for growth in student achievement outcomes
• Writing and reading across curriculum
• Technology
• Classroom DOJO for behavior incentive and communication
• Focus for grades and assignment tracking

Quality Measures

A high quality core curriculum for English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, research-based instructional strategies, and school-wide positive behavior supports are provided for all students. Universal screening data is collected using iReady Benchmarks, Acadience Benchmarks, and Developmental Spelling Assessment

• High quality lesson and unit assessments 
• Acadience bi-weekly progress monitoring for reading
• iReady quizzes and assessments for progress monitoring in mathematics
• Ohio State Tests

What We Teach

Rockdale Academy follows the district's Pacing Guide for all subjects, which is aligned with Ohio's Academic Learning Standards. We are now encouraging all of our students to become Thriving Readers.
